Welcome to Anthropology in the Wind. Below are some answers to questions you may have about this blog.

Who writes this blog?

I’m Louise Senior, an anthropologist studying for my PhD at the University of Aberdeen. I am currently based in Caithness to carry out fieldwork and this blog is part of my research.

What sort of posts do you write?

This blog is where I post ideas, commentary and questions that I have about life in Caithness based on my experiences of living here.

Why do you blog?

I blog because I want to share my thoughts with a broad range of people who can give me responses and feedback that may help me to clarify my ideas and develop my research.

Why is the blog called ‘Anthropology in the Wind’?

I first visited Caithness briefly in April 2012 and the impression which stuck with me was of the windiness of the county! It’s pretty difficult to avoid being regularly blasted by the wind up here, so whatever research I do, the wind will always work its way into it and the title of the blog acknowledges this aspect of Caithness life.

How will you be using my comments in your research?

If you choose to leave comments on this blog, they may be used in my thesis which will be submitted to the University of Aberdeen for my PhD in Social Anthropology. The data may also be used in future publications including, but not limited to, books, journal articles and conference proceedings.

Please remember that any comments posted here are publicly available on the world wide web. I have no control over who may see them here or how other people may use your comments.

Are you speaking on behalf of an organisation or anyone else?

No. All the views expressed on this blog are my own, not those of any other person or organisation.

Who is organising and funding the research?

I am conducting the research as a student of the Department of Anthropology, University of Aberdeen. The research is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council.

How can I contact you privately?

You can use the contact form here to send a private message directly to me.
